On June 1st 2022 The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will begin work on a $5.5 million project to construct and upgrade curb ramps to ADA standards (Americans with Disabilities Act) and modify signal and lighting systems on State Route 111 (SR111) in Palm Springs. Weather permitting.

The project was awarded to Calpromax Engineering Inc. of Placentia California. Crews will be working at various locations on SR111 from Golf Club Drive to West Gateway Drive. Work will also take place at the 39 intersections.

Expect lane closures Mondays through Fridays from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be a minimum of one lane open, in each direction, at all times. Some of the side local streets, connected to SR111, will be closed from a few hours to a few days for reconstruction of cross gutter and/or repaving.

Caltrans identifies SR-111 starting out at Windy Point, traveling toward Uptown Palm Springs on North Palm Canyon Drive, then heading east on Vista Chino, then south on Gene Autry Trail…down to where it intersects with East Palm Canyon Drive.  Work is taking place along that route.
