Turnin’ Up The Heat In The Desert
A heat wave will send temperatures soaring in most of Riverside County the weekend of July 10th and 11th, according to the National Weather Service.
A strong high pressure system currently over the Great Basin will expand westward this week, ushering in the sweltering conditions starting
Saturday morning July 10th 2021.
The NWS has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for the Coachella Valley, the San Gorgonio Pass near Banning, and the Riverside County mountains from Saturday July 10th at 9 a-m through Sunday July 11th at 10 p-m.
Highs in the Coachella Valley could reach 118 degrees on Sunday, while the mercury in the mountains is expected to reach 106 on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
The county recently opened cooling centers in multiple locations, where residents who don’t have access to air-conditioning can stay during the heat of the day. A complete list of locations is available at www.capriverside.org/cool-centers.
