Time To Cut Out Plastic Knives, Forks, Spoons…

How to cut down on the use of plastic eating utensils.

That is the next issue with a bullseye on its back, the City of Palm Springs is taking on.

The City’s Office of Sustainability is calling on residents to offer their input.

There is a proposed draft ordinance city staffers are working on now.

Oddly enough, this is happening, while people can only get food at restaurants via take-out or delivery or by eating outside on a patio in 115-degree heat.

With so many people getting food at drive-thru’s and curbside pickup, restaurants are relying heavily on the use of throw-away food containers and plastic utensils and plastic and paper bags, cardboard boxes, and trays.

And the city is not just targeting food vendors.  It is looking to reduce the retail sale of foam and other rigid food containers.

The City of Palm Springs is calling on you to come up with a creative solution to what it refers to as plastic pollution.

So, here are 3 virtual sessions you can participate in via Zoom.

  • 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25
  • Noon, Wednesday, Aug. 26
  • 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1

You don’t need to register, just go to www. www.yoursustainablecity.comand link into the virtual conference.
