Rain Dampens Fairview Fire; Now 49% Contained

The Fairview Fire burning near Hemet is 53% contained.

It has burned 28,307 acres since it started on Labor Day.  Full containment is expected on Saturday September 17th

21 structures have been destroyed, more than 11-hundred are threatened.

Two people have been killed.

The weekend rain helped firefighters make progress against the fire, but also produced some local flooding in the fire zone.

There is still an Evacuation Warning in effect west of Wilson Way, South of Highway 74, east of Fairview, north of the fire perimeter.

In Big Bear, the Radford Fire is 68% contained, having burned 1,079 acres.

ROAD CLOSURES:  Club View Dr. at FS Road 2N10

EVACUATION WARNINGS REMAIN IN PLACE:

  •     From Glass Road to South Fork River Road.
  •     Beverly Lane, south to FS Road 2N10 and FS Road 2N08, west to Castlerock.
  •     Summit Blvd East to Club View Dr. and Evergreen Dr South
  •     Club View Dr. east to Angles Camp Rd and Vine Ave south to Lassen Dr.
  •     Summit Blvd east to McAllister Rd, east of Hwy 18, and Fox Farm Rd south to Evergreen Rd.

Visitors are asked to stay away.
