More Flights Cancelled, Delayed…Following Messy Weekend For Travelers

It was a weekend of chaos on the first weekend of April 2022 for tens of thousands of travelers.

Storms in Florida and technical problems forced airlines to cancel 35-hundred flights and delay more than 12-thousand flights.

American, JetBlue, Southwest, and Spirit Airlines all had to delay or cancel flights. Discount airline Spirit was hit the hardest, canceling more than a third of its flights.

The flight tracking website FlightAware shows airlines have already cancelled over two thousand flights on Monday April 4th 2022, with delays topping 38-hundred flights.

More flights from Alaska Airlines are being grounded due to an ongoing pilot shortage. Nearly 40 flights are canceled so far.

Pilots for the airline are picketing at airports across Anchorage, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles and San Francisco over a new labor contract.

Talks between the union and airline officials are set to go into mediation later this month.
