Mickelson Keeps Golf Options Open

Golfer Phil Mickelson has registered to play in two PGA majors in 2022.

But he is also requesting his release from the PGA Tour to potentially play in the LIV Golf Invitational Series.

Monday April 25th was the deadline for players to ask for a conflicting event release from the PGA Tour to play in the Saudi Arabian financed LIV Golf Invitational from June 9th to June 11th 2022.

Mickelson is a six-time major champion.

He has registered to play in the PGA Championship in May and the U.S. Open in June.

Mickelson’s agent said in a statement Phil has “no concrete plans”  and all decisions were made  to keep options open.

The defending PGA Championship winner took heat in early 2022 after he criticized the PGA Tour and said he would be looking past Saudi Arabia’s human rights violations to gain leverage against the organization.
