Indio, Coachella, Cathedral City & Unincorporated Areas With Vast Majority Of Covid-19 Cases In The Desert

As of Thursday morning July 9th, 2020.

California has 40 million residents.   4,996,175 of them have been tested for Covid-19, that’s 12.49% of the population.

California has 289,648 positive cases for Covid-19, which is 5.79% of the people who have been tested so far.

California has 6,562 deaths from Covid-19, which is 2.26% of those who have tested positive.  It’s 0.13% of the number of people tested.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, Riverside County has had 21,957 people test positive for the virus.

Of those 21,957 people who have tested positive in Riverside County, 41.3% of them, 9,072,  have fully recovered.

54% of them, 11,864, are at home recovering and are not getting any medical assistance.   Together, that’s 95.3% of all the positive cases.

2.3% of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 506 people, remain hospitalized, and 122 of them are in Intensive Care.

2.3% of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 515 people, have died from Covid-19. That is .02% of the total population of the county.

268,613 people have been tested for Covid-19 in Riverside County as of Thursday morning July 9th 2020,  and 8.1% of them, 21,957, have tested positive 246,656 people have tested negative, which is 91.8%of the people tested.

10.7% of Riverside County’s population has been tested for Covid-19.  That’s 268,613 people out of a population of 2.5 million people.

6,385 cases are in the Coachella Valley.

815 cases are in unincorporated areas of the desert;

(Mecca 200 cases and 6 deaths, Thermal 84 cases, Oasis 137 cases,  North Shore 73 cases and 1 death, Bermuda Dunes 62 cases and 1 death, Thousand Palms 75 cases, Vista Santa Rosa 47 cases and 1 death, Garnet 76 cases, Desert Palms 25 cases and 2 deaths, Desert Edge 20 cases, and 2 deaths, and Sky Valley 16 cases)

 

5,570 cases are in cities:

404 cases in Palm Springs, 16 dead

115 cases in Rancho Mirage, 12 dead

796 cases in Cathedral City, 6 dead

516 cases in Palm Desert, 30 dead

1,678 cases in Indio, 42 dead

366 cases in La Quinta, 11 dead

369 cases in Desert Hot Springs, 3 dead

1,304 cases in Coachella,  12 dead

22 in Indian Wells, no deaths

10 cases in Idyllwild/Pine Cove, no deaths

22 cases in Cabazon, 1 dead

 

In Riverside County:

9,072  people have recovered from the Covid-19 virus.

11,864 people are quarantined at home in various stages of recovery.

 

There have been 515 deaths linked to Covid-19 in Riverside County as of Wednesday morning July 8th 2020.  222 are women, 293 are men.

 

145 of those deaths are in the Coachella Valley.   132 deaths in cities, 13 deaths in unincorporated areas…6 in Mecca,  1 in Vista Santa Rosa, 1 in Bermuda Dunes, 2 in Desert Palms, 2 in Desert Edge, and 1 in North Shore.

 

506 people are hospitalized (that includes 5 people from Imperial County and 10 from county jails), 122 people are in ICU.

 

268,613 people have been tested so far in Riverside County

 

Riverside County has 2,105 cases in nursing homes, with 1,305 cases among patients, and 800 cases among staff. The overwhelming majority of nursing home cases, 689 cases, are in the City of Riverside.

In Coachella Valley nursing facilities, there have been 144 cases in Palm Desert, 69 in Palm Springs, 50 in Indio,  46 in Rancho Mirage…27 patients and 15 staff from Vista Cove Assisted Living in Rancho Mirage, and another 12 patients and 4 staff at Rancho Mirage Terrace, and 46 in La Quinta.

 

All testing is free to the patient being tested. Be patient, you might have to wait a while to get an appointment.

Drive-thru testing is available by appointment only at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio from 9 a-m to 3 p-m Tuesday through Saturday, by appt only. You can also get tested at the Cathedral City Library on Date Palm Drive. Go online to www.rivcoph.org/coronavirus/testing to make an appointment or call 800-945-6171 to make an appointment, and you no longer need to have symptoms to schedule a test.
