Ground has been broken for a the Mecca Regional Sports Park.

In December 2022, that park is set to open, offering more than 6 and a half acres of athletic fields, playgrounds, exercise stations, sand volleyball courts, picnic shelters, and more.

The $6.7 million project is being financed with 5.8 million dollars from California taxpayers via a state grant from the California Department of Parks and Recreation.

Additional funding is coming from the Riverside County Transportation Department and Community Development Block Grants.
