Firebirds Win Streak Hits 5 As Team Hits The Road To Iowa

It’s time to hit the road for the  Coachella Valley Firebirds after 2 weekend wins against their Southern California rivals, extended the Firebirds winning streak to 5 games.

Saturday night in Ontario, the Firebirds scored the first goal of the game, and the last one, in a 5-4 overtime win over the Reign.

Max McCormick scored the hat trick for the Firebirds.

Andrew Poturalski’s overtime goal won it.

 

Quick turnaround for Coachella Valley, with a 3 o’clock Sunday matinee at home against the San Diego Gulls.

Trailing 2 to 1 entering the final period, the Firebirds scored 3 goals early  in the 3rd period, while Christopher Gibson kept the Gulls off the board in the final stanza, as Coachella Valley skated off with a 4 to 2 win.

The Firebirds have won 5 straight, heading to Iowa this week for 2 games against the Wild Thursday and Saturday.

Next home games at Acrisure Arena are  Friday February 3rd and Saturday February 4th against San Diego.
