California has tested 7,296,578 of its 40 million people for the Covid-19 virus.  That’s 18.24% of the population.

93.68% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested negative.  That’s 6,836,028 people.

6.31% of the people tested for Covid-19 in California have tested positive. That’s 460,550 people.

California has 8,445 deaths from Covid-19, which is 1.83% of those who have tested positive.

California hospitals report 1.50% of the people who have tested positive, are hospitalized, which is 6,935 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the hospitals, with 2,012 of those patients in ICU.  The State also reports having another 1,484 “Suspected Covid-19” patients.

Riverside County stats include the weekend of July 25th and July 26th, 2020

In Riverside County, since March 8th, 2020, 356,174 people have been tested for Covid-19 as of Tuesday morning July 28th, 2020.

320,987 people have tested negative, which is 90.12% of the people tested.

35,187 people have tested positive, which is 9.87% of the people who have been tested.

Of the 35,187 people who have tested positive in Riverside County,

34.60% of them, 12,177, have fully recovered.

62.09% of them, 21,851, are home recovering and are not getting any medical assistance. Together, that’s 96.69% of all the positive cases.

1.38% of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 488 people, remain hospitalized, (that includes 1 person from Imperial County and 3 from Riverside County jails), and 146 of them are in Intensive Care.

1.90% of the people who have tested positive so far in Riverside County, 671 people, have died from Covid-19. 211 of those deaths have been in the Coachella Valley, which is 31.44% of the County’s total.

14.24% of Riverside County’s population has been tested for Covid-19.  That’s 356,174 people out of a population of 2.5 million people.

9,747 positive cases have been tallied in the Coachella Valley since March 8th, 2020, when the testing and counting began. The Coachella Valley has recorded 27.70% of the positive cases in Riverside County.

1,243 cases are in unincorporated areas of the desert;

(Mecca 289 cases and 7 deaths, Thermal 123 cases, Oasis 225 cases, and 2 death,  North Shore 95 cases and 1 death, Bermuda Dunes 92 cases and 3 deaths, Thousand Palms 134 cases, Vista Santa Rosa 62 cases and 1 death, Garnet 138 cases, Desert Palms 34 cases and 2 deaths, Desert Edge 27 cases, and 2 deaths, and Sky Valley 24 cases)

In Riverside County:

There have been 671 deaths linked to Covid-19 in Riverside County as of Tuesday morning July 28th, 2020.

211 of those deaths are in the Coachella Valley.   193 deaths in cities, 18 deaths in unincorporated areas…7 in Mecca,  1 in Vista Santa Rosa, 2 in Bermuda Dunes, 2 in Desert Palms, 2 in Desert Edge, 1 in Oasis, and 1 in North Shore.

There are no deaths from Covid-19 for anyone from newborn to age 17.

4 deaths among people aged 18-24.

30 deaths among people aged 25-44

162 deaths among people aged 45-64

332 deaths among people aged 64-84

143 deaths among people aged 85 and up.

Riverside County has 2,395 cases in nursing homes, with 1,456 cases among patients, and 939 cases among staff. The overwhelming majority of nursing home cases, 732 cases, are in the City of Riverside.

In Coachella Valley nursing facilities, there have been 174 cases in Palm Desert, 102 in Palm Springs, 50 in Indio, 50 in La Quinta, 46 in Rancho Mirage.

Hospitals in the Coachella Valley are managing to keep up with the surge in COVID-19 cases. As of Tuesday morning, July 28th, 2020, Riverside County Public Health officials report 75.2% capacity in ICU facilities at hospitals in the desert, 57.2% capacity of all the hospital beds in the desert, and Covid-19 patients are taking up 14.% of all hospital beds in the desert.

Across all of Riverside County’s 17 hospitals, there is 83.9% capacity at ICU facilities, 70% capacity of all hospital beds, and Covid-19 patients are taking up 14.6% of all hospital beds in the county.

The federal temporary hospitals built at the County Fairgrounds in Indio and the old Sears Store in Riverside months ago, are still equipped and ready to be used.   They are not currently being used because they are not needed at this time.   They are not staffed right now because there are no patients there.

If they are needed, they can quickly be staffed and put into operation.

All testing is free to the patient being tested. Be patient, you might have to wait a while to get an appointment.

Drive-thru testing is available by appointment only at the Riverside County Fairgrounds in Indio from 9 a-m to 3 p-m Tuesday through Saturday, by appt only. You can also get tested at the Cathedral City Library on Date Palm Drive. Rite Aid is expanding its COVID-19 testing capacity across California too.

Testing will be available by appointment for people 18 years of age or older, regardless of whether the person is experiencing symptoms, according to Rite Aid. Results are expected in three to five days, a company spokesperson said.

The Riverside County locations providing testing starting Thursday, July 16th, 2020 are:
