Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn is calling on California Governor Gavin Newsom to let smaller businesses stay open like superstores are.
Hahn says big-box retailers like Walmart, Target, and Costco being deemed “essential” during stay-at-home orders has given them an unfair advantage over the competition.
Hahn says big retailers have much more leeway as industry giants and it’s unfairly made them winners in the pandemic economy.
She also argues that small businesses need in-store shopping back because they’re not designed for online orders and curbside pickup.
