A city in Northern San Diego County wants to stop sports betting at the Del Mar Fairgrounds before it starts.

The City of Solana Beach has asked a San Diego Superior Court judge to overturn the San Diego County Fair Board’s decision to allow for betting on college and professional sports games at the off-track wagering center at the track.

The San Diego Union-Tribune reports the city wants the Fair Board to complete an environmental review due to what it claims will be the increased traffic, noise and air pollution,  sports betting will cause in the area.

However, sports betting at the fairgrounds won’t even happen unless California voters approve the measure on the November 2022 ballot.
