A coalition of shelter organizations is offering a special surgery day for cat owners in Riverside County.

The group,  The Animal Welfare Coalition of Riverside County, has set November 17th 2020 as the date for the spay day event and cat owners will pay only $25 for the surgery at any of the participating organizations.

The cost is a discounted rate compared to the usual fee for such spay surgeries.

Participating organizations include: Animal Friends of the Valleys  in Wildomar, Animal Samaritans in Thousand Palms, Loving All Animals in Coachella, Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center in Riverside, Moreno Valley Animal Services, Palm Springs Animal Shelter, Ramona Humane Society  in San Jacinto and Riverside County Animal Services in Jurupa Valley and San Jacinto.

Some of the organizations have pre-arranged appointments for the event. Interested pet owners should visit the websites for each organization to check on spay-day appointment availability.

Demand for the appoints will likely be high and each organization has a finite number available.

The Animal Welfare Coalition of Riverside County was formed this summer with the mission to foster collaboration and communication between the nonprofit and government sheltering organizations to better serve the needs of pet owners and
animals.

Reducing the overpopulation of cats is considered one of the key goals of the coalition and that is one reason why the feline
spay day was chosen as the first event.
