Work crews were on the scene at 5 a-m on Wednesday July 13th 2022 preparing to take down the statue of late Palm Springs Mayor Frank Bogert from in front of Palm Springs City Hall.
The City of Palm Springs will take the statue down at 7 in the morning on Wednesday July 13th 2022.
Last minute legal efforts by the Friends of Frank Bogert failed.
Palm Springs hired the Art Collective Fine Art Services of Palm Desert to take the statue down.
Where will the statue go?
Into storage at a City of Palm Springs maintenance facility.
It’ll be stored there until a new location is found.
The City of Palm Springs says it remains committed to working with the Friends of Mayor Frank Bogert to find a mutually agreeable location to install the statue
If a new location is not found, and agreed upon by all parties involved, the statue will stay in storage. City officials don’t want the statue on city property.
Art Collective’s crew will begin the statue removal process at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13 in front of City Hall, 3200. E. Tahquitz Canyon Way. The removal is expected to be completed by 2 p.m. or earlier.
