Riverside County is working with Martha’s Village & Kitchen, to open a cooling shelter in Palm Springs that’ll be open 24/7.

It’s intended for people living on the streets, and will have referrals to help those people with social services.

The shelter is at United Methodist Church of Palm Springs, 1555 E. Alejo Road just west of Sunrise Way.

Martha’s Village and Kitchen will operate the shelter, while county taxpayers pick up the cost of close to 3-hundred-thousand dollars.

The center is open through September 30th, with a capacity of 40 people.

Applications accepted each day between 3 p-m and 4 p-m, first come, first served

For questions about the cooling shelter, contact Martha’s Village & Kitchen at 760-347-4741. A direct shelter contact phone number will be operational Thursday July 8th, and that phone number will be 760-424-8241.
