If you are a person who enjoys working with large animals, volunteers are needed to be part of a team that assists Riverside County during disasters.

The Riverside Emergency Animal Rescue System swings into action when floods, fires, and storms wreak havoc.

They help Riverside County Animal Services officers evacuate trapped horses and livestock.

The next orientation meeting for volunteers is Saturday, April 9th, at the Western Riverside County/City Animal Shelter at 6851 Van Buren Blvd., Jurupa Valley. Check-in time is 8:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. The meeting is mandatory for anyone who would like to become a member of the special unit of volunteers.

All volunteers must be certified and attend an orientation.

No experience is needed, though it is helpful.
